About
Windy Meadow is a small sustainable homestead located in the rocky foothills of Franklin County. Our agricultural pursuits are informed by deep seated Jewish values and small town New England sensibilities (there’s more overlap than you might think) about how best to exist in the world; we aim to take a pragmatic approach that embodies respect for the land, the people and animals who reside on it, and our broader communities.
Right now, we're just getting started. This spring we’re focusing on setting up the vegetable gardens so we can spend the summer and fall growing and preserving food for next winter. We’re also planning to get the orchard started this year, our first trees are scheduled to arrive soon! Eventually, we envision a full orchard with sheep and chickens grazing beneath the trees; berries, herbs, and perennial flowers near the house; and the ability to host vibrant events for our rural Jewish community.
Our primary goal is sustainable living and a sense of community, not commercial agriculture, but we are happy to share the bounty when we can. In most cases we’d rather barter than sell goods outright. For now, friends are always welcome to join us up in the hills to help out in the garden or just share a meal.
